A 110 cc motorbike costs about VND 180,000 per day, and VND 250,000 per day with an add-on called insurance. Ask what that add-on actually covers. Simple manual bikes run VND 180,000 to VND 220,000 per day.
The licence rule
You need a Vietnamese licence or a recognized foreign one. If you use the 1968 international permit, carry it together with a valid national licence that covers motorbikes. A car licence alone does not. A1 covers bikes up to 125 cc.
Riding the loop yourself βFines and cover
Since 1 January 2025 the fine without a valid licence is VND 2 to 4 million up to 125 cc and VND 6 to 8 million above. Without a valid licence, medical costs may also be left uncovered by insurance.
